Proposal for Pizza Takeaway Raises Concerns

A planning application has been submitted to convert a shop on Colman Road into a takeaway with delivery service. The shop concerned is an off-licence on Colman Road, near to the Post Office, and the application has been lodged by Pizza Hut.

Simon Wright, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesman for Norwich South, has written letters to over 500 households in the area urging people to comment on the application:

"A number of residents living near to the shop have raised concerns with me relating to potential problems with noise, smells and litter if this goes ahead. There are already a number of takeaways in the area, and there is even a pizza takeaway along the same small row of shops. How will another one benefit the community? Opening more and more takeaways has an impact on the whole economic vitality of the area, and there comes a point where this must be resisted."

"Residents have complained about the current situation with takeaways and delivery vehicles abusing the permit parking schemes. This proposal will make matters worse for residents."
