Simon Wright and the Liberal Democrats are campaigning to save New Costessey Post Office from Labour's closure plans. Simon (pictured above, left, with New Costessey sub-postmaster Alison Cooper, and Lib Dem European Parliamentary Spokesman Peter Welch) is urging local people to make their views known by signing petitions, displaying posters, and writing letters.

One Year of Brown - Norwich Losing Out

Friday 27th June marks the one year anniversary of Gordon Brown's period as Prime Minister. Commenting on the last 12 months Simon Wright, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesman for Norwich South, says that Norwich people are suffering from widening inequality, a weakened economy, and the loss of local services such as post offices. Post Office Boss Rewarded for Failure

Royal Mail accounts, published this weekend, reveal that Chief Executive Adam Crozier received a bumper £3 million pay package this year. Yet 51 Post Office branches are set to close across Norfolk with Post Office Ltd claiming that the current network is not financially viable.

Norwich Castle Mall Post Office Queues: Warning of Increases to Come

Official Post Office Ltd figures (see below) show that the closure of three branches in Norwich city could lead to a massive increase in queue lengths at the Castle Mall branch. Simon Wright, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesman for Norwich South, says the closure of Vauxhall Street, Rosary Road, and North Earlham Post Offices may see an increase of queue lengths by at least a third, and as much as half. He has raised his concerns with Postwatch, the independent watchdog for postal services in the UK.

Accuracy of Post Office Consultation Documents Challenged

Today, the Post Office has published details of branches identified for closure in Norfolk with a six week public consultation also launched. The documentation for the consultations can be found on the Post Office website as of this morning, but some details have already come in for criticism.
