Call for evidence: MP Simon Wright to meet with First buses to discuss route changes

January 24, 2012 2:10 PM

Norwich South MP Simon Wright has secured a meeting with First buses on Monday of next week (30th January) to raise concerns over the recent changes to bus routes in the city. Simon is keen to hear people's experiences and concerns in advance of the meeting.

"I was anxious to meet with to First to discuss the route changes with them as soon as possible. Local residents are rightly concerned. Changes to bus routes will often cause a great deal of disruption and inconvenience, especially for those who are elderly or who have mobility problems, and those who rely on a particular service for employment or study," said Mr Wright.

"Many passengers have been in touch with me about their concerns. I want to encourage anyone who is affected to get in touch so I can present First with clear evidence of the impact of these changes on my constituents."

You can send me your experiences and comments to Mr Wright by emailing office@simonwright.org.uk, by phone on 01603 627 660 or by writing to my constituency office at 2 Douro Place, Norwich, NR2 4BG. Additionally, messages sent to Mr Wright's Facebook and Twitter accounts will also be noted.

The meeting comes as First buses unveiled changes to its services across Norwich including the 21/22 which will no longer stop at the University of East Anglia. In Lakenham & Tuckswood the number 17/17a (which passes through Maid Marian Road and Robin Hood Road) no longer stops there on its route to the city centre.

If you are a resident of the Norwich South constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
