Simon Wright, Norwich South's Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate, has made a pledge to his future constituents should he be elected as an MP on May 6.
Mr Wright has promised to be a full-time MP for the city, refusing to take on any additional jobs, directorships or other employments outside his role as an MP. He has also pledged to be open and honest about any expenses incurred in representing people in Norwich South.
Simon Wright said: "People feel rightly let-down by the behaviour of some MPs, and I think it's time for candidates aiming to get elected this time to set high standards for themselves.
"Many people have told me on the doorsteps that they're unhappy at Norwich South's current MP for taking on a number of paid jobs in addition to his role as an MP. I think that's completely unjustified, and one of my pledges is to be a full-time MP and not to take on any extra employments or directorships. Norwich needs and deserves an MP who will give the city their full attention."
"I will be completely honest and open about expenses incurred in my role as an MP and I will publish this information for all to see."
"My pledge is on my website and I will also be reproducing them in campaign literature during this election."
"In addition to these pledges, I will also fight to reform our political system including proportional representation to make all votes count, a fully elected House of Lords, and devolving more power to local communities."
Simon Wright's pledge:
I will put local people first. I will be there to help, listen to your concerns and stand up for our community.
I will:
I will make sure your voice is heard - locally and at Westminster. I will be a strong voice for Norwich.
I will:
I will be open and honest about all expenses incurred in representing you.
