Liberal Democrats from Norwich will join thousands of campaigners in London at The Wave on Saturday. The Wave is part of a series of events being organised in the run-up to the UN climate summit in Copenhagen to encourage the UK government to take a leading role and agree on a treaty that safeguards our climate for the future.
Simon Wright, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesman for Norwich South, said:
"The Copenhagen talks are vital to the international fight against global warming. There is a real concern that Britain's record on tackling carbon hasn't been good enough to play a credible role in these talks. There's only a small window of opportunity left to tackle climate change and that's why these talks are so important.
"I'm going to London to take part in this protest because I feel the government must see the strength of public opinion in advance of the Copenhagen summit.
"The world needs strong and binding targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and generous funds to mitigate climate change. Our leaders must act to protect the planet whilst it is still possible.
Simon Wright will be joining a Lib Dem group including Party leader Nick Clegg at The Wave. Eaton City Cllr Rosalind Wright, a member of Norwich City Council's Climate Change Working Party, will also be taking part.
