Food for Thought
Attended a public meeting at Fakenham Parish Church tonight on the theme: 'Food for thought - Are consumers and farmers getting short-changed?'. Guest speaker was Michael Pollitt, the Rural Affairs Editor of the EDP.
The debate covered a wide range of thought provoking topics, from nobbly carrots to the international sugar trade! Local produce, healthy eating, and the power of supermarkets were all discussed.
The only disappointment was that there weren't more people at the meeting. However, there was a high rate of participation in the debate amongst those who were there.
Afterwards, my fiance Rosalind and I went to the 'Sweet & Sour' Chinese restaurant on Norwich Street. Very good vegetarian selection. :-)
