Budget Welcomed - Queen's Road Car Park to be 10p/20minute stay

February 27, 2006 6:26 PM

North Norfolk District Council (NNDC) tonight passed a budget overwhelmingly endorsed by Councillors.

"This budget is excellent value for council tax payers in Fakenham," says Cllr Simon Wright. "For just 8p per day extra (band D), Fakenham will benefit from significant investment in the Community Centre which is badly in need of repairs. In addition, Queens Road Car Park will now cost just 10p for a short 20 minute stay; more money will be invested in street signage; and environmental schemes will also benefit. This represents excellent value for money for the town."

The Council Tax rise set by the Lib Dem District Council is a modest 3.5%, but taxpayers will also pay a 4.9% increase set by the Conservative County Council.

Fakenham to benefit from cheap parking

As reported recently by the 'Fakenham and Wells Times', NNDC had previously recommended that 'The Limes' Car Park be allocated as the short stay 10p/20minute car park, but suggestions from local people that Queens Road Car Park should be used instead have been acted on by the Council.

"The Council has shown again that it will listen to the views of people in Fakenham and respond to them," says Cllr Nich Starling. "Town centre businesses will benefit from visitors taking advantage of this very cheap car parking in the centre of the town."

If you are a resident of the Norwich South constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
